The Dangers of Drink Driving
I’ve had it in mind for some time to launch an anti-drink driving campaign sometime over the internet.
I don’t know why it seems to matter - hopefully just a matter of social responsibility, rather than a portent of future tragedy.
A particular frustration is that here in the UK safety campaigns are often plain sh!te.
The last drink driving ad I saw in the UK was a poster with a teddy bear, with a line of ketchup squirted across it. It was memorable for its sheer lameness.
I firmly believe that safety campaigns need to be honest - need to show something of the realities of what they are trying to avoid people suffering.
You need some degree of shock value, so that individuals - mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers - will, at the right time, nudge someone and say “Don’t do that” - and avoid a tragedy.
Summer Hogan, sister of DigitalPoint’s Shawn Hogan, delivers it in in full frontal fashion:
Drinking and Driving - Jacqueline Saburido
I’ll warn you now - it’s not pretty. What she posts isn’t of tragedy in death, but tragedy in life.
Don’t look if you want to forget.
