Google News guidelines

Contacted Google News about a couple of issues this week.

The first was a request for inclusion of a news blog site I run as an individual - the response from Google News was that they do not accept submissions from individuals.

The second is a problem Google News has with Platinax News - the source was accepted, but not only do the titles keep going screwy, they also keep failing to update with the news posted.

It turns out that apparently the Google News system has problems with news titles being hyperlinked.

So if I remove this and place a permalink on the page to the article, apparently this will help the Google News system.

So now it’s quandry of how to address this - obviously, Google News *could* be a useful source of traffic, but it’s also mired in lots of similar stories.

Personally, I’d rather keep the links in the titles, as it seems easiest for human users. However, perhaps I should be making a business decision based on traffic concerns.

ADDED: Edited out hyperlinks for Google News - seems to be picking things up much easier now.
