When clueless SEO’s work over the radar

So I received another email approach from another SEO company - who have visited one of my good content sites, and without realising that it’s published by another SEO company, sent a link buying request:

My name is [removed] and I work on behalf of [major UK brand]. We would be interested in placing an advertorial on your site. This will be in the form of some content on a dedicated page on your site. We would supply you with the necessary content for you to upload once the page has been created. We are able to offer £200 amount for this.

And then they provide a link to a working example. !!!

It’s from a brand-name SEO company as well, providing services for corporate clientele - yet to then engage on a link buying spree, and offer very revealing details about their campaign to completely anonymous webmasters, shows a lack of foresight and planning it’s hard to justify.

After all, they just told me:

1. Their client
2. Which keywords their client is targeting
3. How they are setting up their campaign
4. Which sites they are using for this campaign
5. Inventory I can cost and compare

After all, all I need to do to replicate their campaign is to run a link check on Yahoo for the targeted pages and anchor text, to see where these links have been bought, and set up an inventory from that list with costs so I know how much I need to set aside to compete directly - before even adding anything else in from my sites.

Too over the radar for Google, too over the radar for the client. Too over the radar for link development.

And definitely not the sort of information to hand to another SEO company on a plate.
