Simple reputation management

Brian Turner is a common name - aside from a few minor writers with the same name, there’a a celebrity TV chef in the UK who shares it also.

Therefore ranking - or not - for my own name has never seemed a big issue.

However, today I found in my logs for Platinax that someone had searched for: Brian Turner seo.

The first result is an old profile page on SEO Lab.

And the original version - put up when I first entered commercial SEO around 3 years ago - reeks of amatuerism and begged some basic reputation management.

For example, what sort of business impression does the following give?

Brian used to be normal. He would go out a lot, drink a lot, get laid a lot, take lots of drugs, and generally party. Then he got bored, so he became a teetotal vegan celibate and spent a couple of years in communion with the universe. During this time he developed a load of really interesting ideas about existence. Prefering to not look like a total goofball he decided to write it all up as “fiction”.

It was trying to gain internet traffic to his writing site, to impress propsective literary agents, that Brian stumbled into Search Engine Optimisation - and then developed something of an obsession for it. After spending the past year optimising non-commerical sites, he has since founded britecorp internet marketing services, and also admins business-talk.co.uk. He also idles his time away developing other websites, too.

Brian lives in the UK and reads ancient history for fun. Brian is the founder and head-honcho of SEO lab.com.

Not a good one by any means. Any potential client reading that is going to read rank amateurism.

So now I’ve updated the profile for Brian Turner:

Brian Turner is an internationally recognised business consultant and SEO, who helps businesses increase their online presence and visibility.

Although he has worked with all size of business, from sole traders to big American corporations such as Earthlink, SME’s are his preferred customer base.

His focus is on establishing close support relationships with key decision makers to help forward their aims more efficiently.

Brian is the director of Britecorp internet marketing services, and Platinax, a free business resource to help entrepreneurs and SME’s get the most from doing business online.

Hopefully that reads just a little more professional. :)
