Kawasaki on panels

Guy Kawasaki makes a few interesting points about getting the most from speaking on a panel:

  1. Know the subject.
  2. Control your introduction.
  3. Speak up.
  4. Entertain, don’t just inform.
  5. Tell the truth, especially when the truth is obvious.
  6. Answer the question that’s posed, but never limit yourself to the question that’s posed.
  7. Be plain, simple, and short.
  8. Never look bored.
  9. Never look at the moderator.
  10. Never say, “I agree with (name of previous panelist).”

He explains each point more thoroughly, and provides a generally interesting point of view form his own perspective on being on panels recently.

While it would be tempting to think the points raised apply only to being a panel speaker, when you look at the points more closely, we’re dealing with fundamental of business/marketing presentation here.
