5 things you never knew about Brian Turner

Okay, I’ve been tagged by Marketing Guy, which was nice - so before I move this blog, I’ll list 5 things you never knew about me - to serve as an exit from the current site location to the new domain. :)

1. I use to have an unhealthy obsession with explosives

It was soon cured by almost producing TNT in college.

The acids were too strong and made the whole reaction violent, which was very dangerous.

I literally lobbed the eqiupment into a nearby sink and threw myself to the floor. Realising the damage I could have done to myself, subsequently lost all interest in producing explosives again.

I later dropped out of a Chemistry degree to take up writing.

2. I’m really an aspiring science fiction & fantasy writer

I figured as it’s a tough market, then I should develop an internet presence to help me get published - a feather in my cap to help with being accepted for publishing.

My first attempts to get published crashed and burned, but it didn’t stop me building the world’s largest science fiction and fantasy forums for literature as well as film/TV.

3. I was long term unemployed for 8 years.

I figured my writing would be a masterpiece, and that I should dedicate all my time to it. However, after a few years it became impossible to get any kind of admin job without work experience.

I was on the brink of setting up a webhosting company, but after someone approached me on a SEO forum to help their company, I ended up setting up a SEO company instead, and have never looked back.

4. I’ve had sex in a church!

The interior had been stripped out ready for conversion to apartments, which made it intriguing to explore.

My girlfriend and I then got carried away, and had our own religious experience. :)

5. I’m actually very spiritual

At 18 I had a Near Death Experience, and later in my early 20’s spent a year as a vegan tea-total celibate communing with God (the version beyond all religious and theological bounds).

Everything I do - whether writing or business - is intended to serve an ultimate philanthropoligical purpose of fighting poverty.
