SEOs have feelings too
So, Nick Wilson in his blazingly popular Threadwatch posts a rant about how he hates the way search engine theory is knocked about in discussion.
In response, a dozen SEO’s get Paranoia 101.
I have to admit, I’ve had to really bite my tongue a few times in these discussions - after all, I’m a naturally opinionated person. :)
And in a field with so few absolutes as SEO, there is rampant ground for opinionated speculation.
Reading research papers is all great for being fore-warned, but at the end of the day, there are no certainties in SEO. It’s one of those fields where knowledge and humility have to walk together.
Otherwise it truly is preaching to the choir. :)
I sometimes wonder how people such as Danny Sullivan, who has to walk that ever-fine line of interests between search engines and optimisers, manages to sustain his own level of diplomacy.
I figure maybe he has a “scream room” somewhere in the house, where he can tear at his hair and exclaim apoplectically; “Mike Grehan said what?!” “WTF SEMPO?!” “Why, Google, why?!”
