Getting support calls for news sites?
Been an odd morning - it’s only 10am, but I’ve already had two phone support requests because of news sites I operate.
On HomeMove I wrote an article about NHBC certificates - a form of guarantee that a new build property is built to proper standards. It also ensures the builder/developer will correct faults (snagging issues) raised with them within 2 years.
So this morning someone called me up, asking about how I can help find out about a specific building regulation relating to the NHBC. Hm. Could be a sign of success, but HomeMove isn’t pulling in great traffic yet.
Anyway, I updated the original article with contact details for the NHBC, so that anyone else could contact them directly.
Then half an hour later someone asked if I repaired Acam equipment. This relates to a news story on CCTV Core, a surveillance and technology news site I run, which apparently had been found on a Google Search for Acam.
Unfortunately, no, I only run news sites, not technical help, and in this instance was unable to help.
It does make me wonder, though - being a very small independent news publisher, if I can have a couple of technical support calls already in one morning, does this mean that larger news sites constantly get these? Perhaps outsourcing leads for tech support is a revenue model I should look at. :)
