Google Big Daddy loses 6 months of Platinax

I ran a search on Google for one of the more popular threads on the Platinax forums.

Was surpised to find that Google no longer has a recent copy - in fact, the cache is dated July 25th 2005.

Ran a site: check for the main keyword, and Google shows about 30 supplemental results based on similarly outdated URLs.

Yet run a site: check for the forum itself, to find how many pages are indexed, and Google now has only 431 results - and not only does this not immediately show any of the outdated URLs, but Google is also unable to provide any further pages after 1.

Pretty disturbing, especially for a forum previously indexed for over 3,000 threads - but I guess that explains the drop in traffic and AdSense earnings.

A check on the Google Big Daddy datacenter shows the same results, so I guess this is part of the big move that Matt Cutts warned about.

Somewhat disturbing to see the use of data so inconsistent, but I guess I have to put that down to teething problems, and that we’ll need to wait to judge the situation after Matt tells us the move is complete.
