iBrian to speak at SES London 2008

I have *always* wanted to speak at SES. I love SEO and especially link building - my speciality. I love talking about the subject, and I love talking about my experiences with link dev work.

The trouble is, I’m usually too busy to keep any pace with blogging the subject - plus there’s also the concern that if I post too much detail, I could either threaten my competitive advantage, or else encourage swathes of low-end affiliate spammers to fill Google with junk. Neither of which would be welcome.

Anyway, my new best friend, Mike Grehan, has given me speaker slots on the two link building sessions at SES London 2008.

I’m as giddy as a schoolboy. :)

Looking at the event list, it seems most of the speakers are circuit pros - each bio I’ve read lists someone I’ve usually heard of, and who lists regular speaker engagements going back years.

Luckily, I think very few have the degree of link development experience I have, so I intend to make my mark.

By telling everything.

There are two sessions I’ll be speaking at:

Weds Feb 20th - 17:15 to 18:15: Linking Strategies
Thurs Feb 21st - 13:00 to 14:00: Beyond Linkbait: Getting Authoritative Online Mentions

I figure there are guidelines I’ll need to stick to, in order to ensure I work within the session topic. However, I plan to reveal as much as possible.

For the basic link session, I want to talk about the different link strategies available, how to balance them, and how to interweave them into powerful link profiles. Full info, tips, and things to avoid.

For the advanced link session, I want to reveal the quiet revolution that’s been taking part in link dev - you may have caught undercurrents reading SEObook and similar high-brow blogs - but I’ve not seen it pushed as a main link dev concern. No, it’s not social media - it’s something more astonishing than that, and I can’t wait to discuss how lateral thinking is turning link development on its head.

In the meantime, if you’re planning to attend SES London 2008, I’ll hopefully see you there and am happy to enjoy drinks in good company.

If you don’t plan to be there, I do plan to place both of my presentations online for reference, so no one will miss out.

In the meantime, many many thanks to Mike Grehan, who at worst is simply one of the nicest guys in the business.

  1. So on the one hand you don’t want to reveal all because “I could either threaten my competitive advantage, or else encourage swathes of low-end affiliate spammers to fill Google with junk.”

But then you say “I plan to reveal as much as possible.” and the presentations are going to be online.

Personally, I’d go for plan A and not be swayed too much by Internet celebs :)

  2. It’s a persistent challenge to get qualified speakers to provide actionable information to an audience that is part business prospects and part direct competitors.

The moderators can make up for this by asking the hard questions and keeping panelists “honest” to the topic. The audience can do the same.

Looking forward to meeting you in person.
