VideoJug for Online DIY help
Maybe I missed the boat on this one, but I just discovered VideoJug as a great resource for DIY help.
The kitchen tap in the new Barratt House couldn’t be turned off properly - it nearly goes off, then it’s back to full again.
Getting a plumber in winter doesn’t sound like an immediate solution, especially for a small issue like this.
Trouble is, I’m useless at DIY. Give me abstract concepts and I’m happy, but practical hands-on work just isn’t my thing.
Anyway, the tap’s gotten really bad the past couple of days - there was always a drip, but over the past couple of days it’s been a constant trickle.
Anyway, a search on Google lead me to videojug, and a quick search there found what I was looking for: How to Fix a Dripping Ceramic Disc Tap.
It’s a neat little video that shows you exactly how to take the tap apart, and which fittings to look at. So I got the tools out for a look.
To be fair, I haven’t managed to fix the tap completely - I took it apart for a look, but have no replacement fittings. However, I tighten the nut and screw, and although it still turns all the way around again, it’s no longer dripping.
On my way to DIY stardom, I guess - so long as I keep referencing the site. :)
