Yahoo! - having serious problems?

Yahoo! seems to be having a lot of technical problems of late.

An update on July 21st has managed to downsize Yahoo! Search results and relevancy.

Frustrated with Google’s increasing irrelevancy, I moved to Yahoo! Search - not sure what the new update is supposed to have achieved, but in practical terms, it seems to have reduced relevancy.

It’s a shame that whenever Google leaves the field open on search (April’s bad data push) Yahoo! responds not by improving their results, but by shooting themselves in the foot.

Perhaps it’s simply a technical error with Yahoo! - after all, they just released a new crawler, and it was Google’s change in crawling method that caused them problems.

Technical problems with Yahoo! seem to go further - earlier in the week Yahoo! Messenger was offline, and now even when trying to post a comment to their blog, I received three different types of error message:

1. 500 error - server not available
2. Your comment could not be submitted due to questionable content: platinax.co.uk
3.

An error occurred:

missing yahoo

MT::App::Comments=HASH(0×10f345c) Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at /movabletype/extlib/jayallen/MTBlPost.pm

Come on - if Yahoo! can’t even operate a blog properly, is it any wonder they have problems with search?

Bit of a mess over there?

  1. […] And now you can’t even post a comment to the official Yahoo! blog without a string of error messages. […]
