Chris Beasley kicked out from Sitepoint

Andrew Johnson posts that Christ Beasley of Sitepoint has had his blog removed and moderator privileges revoked from Sitepoint. Chris posts in the thread just linked to, and reports basics of the issue on his new blog.

Overall situation is that he’s been basically pushed out.

I first cut my teeth on SEO at Sitepoint under Chris a few years back - I was just looking for hosting info after getting bored on WebHostingTalk, and idly noticed they had a board for SEO - whatever that was. Never looked back since.

The impression of Chris as a SEO is a basic whitehat publisher with something of a PageRank obsession.

I learned the basics under his sometimes sharp guidance, then moved on to John Scott’s link-building school at v7n, after Chris complained of critical comments by John regarding a meta-tag test.

I can’t say I always agreed with what Chris said at Sitepoint - but I always respected him. After all, on a lot of forums, it’s nothing but words - but Chris Beasley, as a well-established publisher, has gone and done (and succeeded) in ways that many webmasters can only aspire to. His words had experience behind him.

As with seemingly everyone else, it’s not exactly clear why Chris is no longer there - but it can only be said that it’s a loss to Sitepoint and its members. Not exactly a great PR (Public Relations) exercise for SitePoint, either.

ADDED: A couple more SitePoint staff have announced their resignations, complaining of the corporate culture they perceive at SP:
